I got accepted to AFS-USA today!

Yaayyyy!

To be honest (and not to seem self-conceited), I wasn't that surprised, but you never know, y'know? Oh well, anyways...

Now the process to people unfamiliar with it goes as thus: AFS-USA sends my application to AFS-Iceland (or whatever country you're going to) and gets reviewed there. If they need some more information or something is wrong with the application they tell AFS-USA and they contact me. It's already been reviewed about 4 or 5 times (so much as I can tell) by AFS-USA, so I can imagine it should be pretty immaculate by now, haha.

The only things I can think of would be my blood type not showing up on my medical statement or my allergies, which aren't even bad. At all. AFS-USA made me write up quite the essay on what drugs I take regarding my mild cat allergies. Here's a tip to anyone applying while reading this: if you have mild allergies to anything, and the only thing you do to relieve the allergin is to flush your eyes out with water, don't put it as an allergy. Just don't. It's not worth it, because you'll have to write at least 3 statements on it, possibly have your doctor confirm that you won't die if you come in contact with cat hair, and have your parents write another statement that says you just flush your eyes out.

There's your tip, lol.

So I got my blood drawn, got some cookies and gatorade, some pants, and I won't know my blood type for another 3 weeks? or was it 1? I don't really remember. I submitted my final application anyways, and if AFS Iceland needs to know my blood type, I should know it by then.

So That Interview Thing

Was alright. AFS interviews are about as relaxed as can be.

We just talked about the exchange for a good hour, and that was about it, really. There wasn't a whole lot of awkwardness or weird questions (whatever that means).

So anyways...

I'll be donating blood on the 20th (day after my birthday) so I can get my blood type checked (no one knows it D: ). Thhhaaaaaattt's about it, I think.

A Post of Sighs

So...

My macbook's harddrive crahsed last night. As in, all of it. I can't recover any information from the drive (there goes my music, pictures, videos, movies, work, school work, etc.)

I'm absolutely sure there's nothing I can do about this. So I ordered a new harddrive and I'm just going to replace it myself (saving myself a trip to Austin or San Antonio and up to $500). SO instead of having some guy at a mac store tell me that my laptop wont work unless I get a new harddrive, I self-diagnosed.

No news about the exchange though.

Let's Play The Waiting Game

And so it begins. The waiting game.

I went to my first official AFS event (it was a potluck after the orientation for all the students staying in my chapter). I met the volunteers I've been talking with the past couple weeks, and met a lot of the exchange students staying here. They were all really friendly, in case you were wondering.

I had a good time going up there and meeting people. But more about the game (you lost it).

I learned that since I applied oh so early (oh, 5 months or so early), I may not hear back whether I was accepted or not until JANUARY. Oh the agony.
